The outrage!

Now, few blogs, from the Huffington Post to the Daily Beast, have reported a shocking scandal with national implications-Sarah Palin flew in a private plane! Oh, the horror! The Governor did not use the bus to travel hundreds of miles from city to city in what would be a most impractical journey! How could she do such a thing! It is a total betrayal of what she pretended to believe in!

This faux outrage is exactly the same sputtering coming from a few irate bloggers today. However, their stupendous reiterations of feigned malevolence portending from Sarah Palin are quite unnecessary. Did she ever really make the claim the she would travel from city to city on bus alone? No. So the sufferers of PDS erect a straw man, having nothing of substance to attack.

Listen, guys, you have to try harder. There isn't even a story here. However, CBS felt the need to run with this non-issue, and even linked to a Trig Truther website? Really, are you folks over at CBS trying to lose whatever credibility you have left? No that you had any in the first place, but come on, you should know better than to associate with conspiracy theorists.

By the way, Conservatives4Palin did a great piece on this. Check it out.

Sarah Palin does not need your approval, Mario

Well, some guy called Mario Almonte has spouted off a some falsehoods about Sarah Palin. Now, I'm not going to waste all my time on his lies (far too many to waste my time on), but I will focus on a couple of particular interest.

Many people interpret the enormous popularity of Going Rogue as a sign that she is a force to be reckoned with on the national stage. Yet, while the book does enjoy success at the moment, it's important to note that most of the sales were based on advance orders and first day purchases - this was spurred by her popularity, not the merit of the book itself.

Nice try. It sold 300,000 copies in its first day, and sold 700,000 in its first week. I don't know how many its sold since, but I am betting Going Rogue is getting close to the pinnacle of one million copies, a milestone for any author. Do you like your crow medium rare or well done, Mario?

Palin of course claims that her strength lies in the fact that she rejects the Washington political machines of both parties, and that's why she will make a better leader. However, she is heavily delusional in her belief that she will win any kind of national office on the strength of her popularity alone. The reality is that, on her own, she simply lacks the organizational infrastructure to mount a national political campaign.

Sarah Palin's strength resides within the people, and it is the people who will lift her to victory in spite of GOP's party bosses wishes. You think of us as nothing? We will go door to door. We will donate money to a Palin campaign. We will cast our ballots on election day. We will do what we feel is best for our country, not what is advantageous to Washington insiders. The power of the people triumphs the power of a corrupt Republican establishment.

Huckabee, you're finished

I used to support you, Huckabee. I even went out of my way one time to argue you were the future of the conservative movement with my own family members. So this time, it was you who let me down with your pandering to guests on your talk show and your refusal to play hard ball with Obama. I guess you better leave that Sarah Palin.

However, I come here with a different matter, one that shows an extraordinary lack of judgment on your part. Why did grant clemency to Maurice Clemmons, a man who murdered four police officers Sunday? Why?

Don't say the parole board recommended it or whatever nonsense reason you might hand out. The fact is, this is a total FUBAR on your part. Admit it. Don't give this asinine response.

You said you were probably not going to run again in 2012 on Face the Nation Sunday morning. You may want to upgrade your status from "probably not" to "definitely not".

Some changes are here

Over the past two weeks I have been busy, and have not blogged as much as usual. That may be due to the fact that I have been in Grand Rapids for a few days to meet Governor Palin at her book signing in addition to the fact I have redesigned my blog.

The reason I have done the makeover is to refocus my blog, which I felt had become meandering. Actually, to tell the truth, I had thought this for some time, but just now I had come to the conclusion that I had to concentrate my blog on something of particular interest. "The Melancholy Conservative" simply wasn't cutting it. I felt no particular motivation to blog. That's why I shook things up.

I haven't gotten over the 2008 election, to be honest. What we have done in electing an openly socialist President has been a disaster in every area. Unemployment continues to rise. The Afghanistan war continues to spiral out of control. The federal debt is rising like a flash flood. What is Obama's response? Spend more money. Assume greater federal control. Dally around on the war.

This is unacceptable. We need true leadership in the White House. We need to win the next presidential election and set this nation back on the right track of fiscal sanity, greater nation defense, and limited government. I see only one person right for the job, one person who can actually win.

This person is Sarah Palin. She alone has the vision, charisma, and the eloquence to forge a pathway into the White House and establish common sense conservatism as something for the government to live by. How do I know she is the one?

Look at the others. Mitt Romney. He is a moderate at best, and a liberal at worst who continually changes his position on almost every issue in order to garner votes. He has no support among the grassroots. I wonder why.

Mike Huckabee? He is the man just pardoned a criminal who just murdered four patriotic police officers. Can a man who had such a serious lapse in judgment be trusted with national security matters? I don't think so.

Sarah Palin stands out among a crowd of wannabes. She is unabashedly conservative. She does not waver in the face of criticism. She calls things like she sees it. She not only talks about conservative principles, she lives them.

If anyone can name another candidate who possesses all the qualities that Sarah Palin embodies, I would consider them. However, such men and women are in short supply. Governor Palin stands alone.

Yet she is not alone. We all support and defend her. The millions of citizens, just like me, who want to see a freer, more prosperous America. Sarah Palin is our avatar. She is our leader. And we will not abandon her.

Try harder, CBS

You know, when you are going to criticize Sarah Palin, at least make sure you can spell first.  Notice how "writes" is spelled "writs"? Is that a fancy way of saying grits?

Sarah Palin at 51% favorability

According to Rasmussen, Sarah Palin now has 51% approval rating. (H/T to the commenters at Conservatives4Palin.com) One less misperception about the Governor to worry about.

MSNBC apologizes

Skimming across a google news search, I found this interesting tidbit of information well buried at the bottom of the list-an apology from Dylan Ratigan about showing photoshopped pictures of Sarah Palin on MSNBC. He says it was inexcusable, but please don't tell me he was sorry about airing those photos. He most likely knew they were fake and decided to go ahead and pass them along as the genuine article, hoping no one would notice. Guess what, we did. Lies about conservatives, especially Sarah Palin, don't go unnoticed anymore. Learn from your experience, Mr. Ratigan.

Frank Bailey's book deal "terminated"

According the Associated Press, Frank Bailey, once part of Sarah Palin's inner circle while she was governor, no longer has a book deal with his publisher. One of the co-authors, Christiana Grace, says it was not the result of a "falling out" with Mr. Bailey (who also is one of her best friends), but at this point in the game, what else could it be? Perhaps the publishers discovered that Frank Bailey did not have the dirt they wanted on Sarah Palin, and realized that no one would buy the book otherwise, and hence decided not to go forward with a book deal that would be a bust for the company in question, Releve Marketing and PR.

I don't know for sure. Yet what I do know is that there will be one less Palin-bashing book in circulation, at least for now.
